John Kelly

My dog knows how to tell time. For her it's always NOW! I admire that and try to emulate it as much as my wife will allow. The dog and I walk, near sunrise and sunset, and I whistle little ditties that get stuck in my head. Those tunes bring cadence to my step, and when I round a corner and get smacked in the face with one of nature's masterpieces, step-matching phrases sometimes come to mind.

Sunrise, misty clouds, crows, rabbits, breezes that lift my hat or winds that push me backward inspire and instruct me. Creeping tendrils of fog might strike me as “spectral fingers” and evolve into an interesting few verses. I'm happy to share these and hope the original emotion still resonate in the lines.
